Brad Byrne & Jack Higginbottom Hit Milestone Appearances

Congratulations to Brad Byrne & Jack Higginbottom who have both recently hit milestone Trafford FC appearances.

Brad hit 50 appearances at Clitheroe last week before Jack also reached 50 on Saturday in the FA Cup against Campion AFC.

Brad Byrne

Byrne joined Trafford from Stalybridge Celtic in May 2024 having made 30 appearances in the 23/24 season for the Celts.

Manager Karl Marginson gave him his debut on the 2nd August 2024 in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round victory away at Albion Sports where he played the full 90 minutes. The 25/26 season is underway and Byrne hit his milestone 50 in the 2-1 away defeat to Clitheroe.

Byrne made a total of 47 appearance in the 24/25 season scoring 1 goal.

Jack Higginbottom

Jack Higginbottom is a product of the Trafford Youth & reserves system.

Jack also made his 1st team debut against Albion Sports last season, and went on to play in 47 of our 48 games in the 24/25 campaign, an unbelievable record which included 40 consecutive starts in what was his debut season. Jack’s 50th appearance for Trafford came in the FA Cup Preliminary round against Campion AFC.

RAISING MONEY FOR THE DARBY RIMMER FOUNDATION

The “Grassroots Football Tour” takes place in a few weeks, in aid of The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, and Trafford FC have signed up to be involved…..

The Tour consists of a 156 mile walk starting and ending at Ossett United in Yorkshire. In a huge loop across the north of England, a core team of 16 walkers will visit 21 other football grounds across three days, June 6th to 8th 2025. Many other walkers will drop in and out along the route, each making their own efforts to raise money for The Darby Rimmer Foundation.

Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby (husband of former Man City & England Lionesses captain Steph Houghton) plus his close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created this charity to increase awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness, and to hopefully help find a cure. The Foundation will also raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support for those diagnosed with the disease.

The Trafford FC to Altrincham leg of the walk will take place on Saturday 7th June 2025. Walkers are expected to arrive at Shawe View between 2pm – 3pm that day, and after a quick refuel they will walk the approximately 8½ miles to Altrincham’s Moss Lane stadium.

Taking part in this leg of the walk will be former Trafford AND Altrincham legends Stuart Coburn and Ged Kielty, along with other members / supporters of both clubs. The bonds between Altrincham FC and Trafford FC have always been strong, and we are looking forward to joining with our very good friends from The Robins to try and raise a decent amount from our leg, to add to the grand total. We’d love to have as many people as possible down to either take part, or just give some vocal support to the walkers.

All money raised by the Grassroots Football Tour will go directly to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. All donations are gratefully received.
