Exciting Plans for Shawe View Unveiled

Trafford Football Club are pleased to announce plans to replace and upgrade the buildings at the club’s Shawe View ground. The club is inviting feedback from local residents and supporters of the club.

The current buildings at Shawe View are over 40 years old and badly in need of upgrading. The club has worked with architects and designers to develop what it believes is an affordable plan which will improve facilities for supporters attending fixtures at Shawe View as well as offering a space which will be available to the local community on non-match days.

The plans include:

  • New clubhouse with a community room, new bar and kitchen and new spectator toilets
  • New changing rooms for home and away teams and officials, player treatment room, hospitality area, plus spectator toilets and first aid
  • LED floodlights: replacing the current sodium lights with more efficient LEDs will save on running costs and reduce light spillage to local properties
  • Improved landscaping and planting inside the ground to enhance the biodiversity on the site

Club Chair John Eadie said,

“The buildings at the ground have not been upgraded in decades. The new development is long overdue and will represent a vast improvement in facilities for match going supporters as well as creating a space which can be used by the local community.”

The club is also expecting work to begin in the next few weeks on a new covered stand at the William Wroe end of the ground. The stand will offer additional shelter to spectators at games and with the winter weather upon us the building of the stand can’t come soon enough. Planning permission for the stand was obtained in November 2023 and the club has been raising the finance required to make the plans a reality. Funding has now been secured from the Football Foundation’s Premier League Stadium Improvement and Trafford Football Club’s Supporters Club. Club Director Pete McGrath thanked supporters for their hard work over a number of years in raising the additional funds to allow the building work to begin.

“On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank the Trafford FC Supporters Club for doing an amazing job in raising the funds needed to get us to this point with the work on the West Stand about to begin.”

Trafford FC Proud to Support National League’s ‘3UP’ Day of Action

Trafford FC is proud to stand alongside clubs across the country in supporting the National League’s “3UP” Day of Action, an initiative backed by the Trident Leagues, the Northern Premier League, Isthmian League, and Southern League.

The campaign calls for the introduction of a third promotion place from the National League system into the English Football League (EFL), ensuring that success on the pitch is rewarded and ambition throughout non-league football is recognised.

Currently, only two clubs are promoted each season, and the “3UP” campaign seeks to make that three, aligning non-league football more fairly with the structure of higher divisions.

What Is the ‘3UP’ Day of Action?

On Saturday, 15th November, clubs across the country will join together to mark the “3UP” Day of Action by adjusting all kick-off times to 3:03 pm, a symbolic gesture highlighting the campaign’s central message. This Saturday’s game against Vauxhall Motors will ko at 3:03 inline with the campaign.

The initiative has already received widespread backing from all 72 National League clubs, as well as growing support from fans, players, and communities across the football pyramid.

Trafford FC Shows OUR Support

At Trafford FC, we’re proud to add our voice to this important movement. We believe that introducing a third promotion spot will:

  • Create greater opportunity for ambitious clubs to progress,
  • Strengthen competition and fairness, and
  • Inspire communities and players who strive for success every season.

Our club is built on hard work, community spirit, and ambition — values that perfectly align with the 3UP campaign.

Get Involved

We encourage our supporters to learn more about the 3UP initiative and help spread the message. By standing together, clubs like Trafford FC can help shape a fairer and more open pathway for non-league football. Let’s make sure the game continues to reward those who earn it — on and off the pitch.

Club Statement – Tom Baker

Trafford FC have appointed Tom Baker as the club’s new manager

Tom is of course well known at Shawe View having been in charge from 2015 to 2020. His previous spell was Tom’s first managerial role after retiring from playing due to injury aged just 30.

In 2020 Tom stepped down following the abandonment of football due to Covid. During his five years at the helm, Tom brought silverware to Shawe View in the form of the Northern Premier League Cup in 2019. He also guided the team to a place in the League Play-offs in 2018.

Under Tom’s leadership the club never finished outside the top ten in the league. He also led us to two Manchester Premier Cup Finals, one was lost on penalties to FC United, the other was not played due to Covid.

Since leaving the role five years ago, Tom has focused on his family and his business, whilst keeping in touch with the non-league scene by carrying out scouting, most recently for Altrincham FC.

Tom’s work commences immediately – he will take training this week, and will be in the dugout for Saturday’s home game versus Shifnal Town. In terms of support staff – further announcements will be made in due course.

Tom has the following message for the club and its supporters: “I am really excited to be back at Trafford, and for the challenge ahead. I look forward to meeting the players and getting to work with them straight away. We should be under no illusions that the task ahead is a difficult one. We need everyone at the club backing the players if we are to get out of the position we’re in. I will give it my all to try and reverse our fortunes, and I cannot wait to get started”

Everyone at Trafford FC is excited by the return of a man who is viewed as a successful manager in the club’s history – a trophy winner, and a thorough professional. Welcome home Tom Baker!
