Earlier in the pre-season period we announced our retained list – the vast majority of the squad have stayed on from last season. Goalkeeper Sam Booth has once again signed a contract with the club, and youngster Josh Wood has also been signed up to a deal for the new season. All other players have signed up to the usual non-contract arrangements.

AHEAD of our opening League fixture of 2025-26, here’s a re-cap of the ins & outs of the squad:

Rio Clegg joined Radcliffe FC this summer after a season at Shawe View that saw him become the top scorer in NPL West with 20 goals.

Young striker Kanye Nisbett has joined Stockpot Georgians in search of more first team opportunities.

Defender Bailey Brown is on dual registration with Cheadle Nomads.

Midfielder Taylor Dyson who joined us in the final few weeks of last season has taken up an offer from Hyde United.

Forward Kevin Spinelli is looking for a new club.

We wish all the departees every success at their new clubs.

Our Reserves team had a very good season in 24-25, finishing 4th in their League and reaching the League Cup Final where they unfortunately lost on penalties. Two players from Paul Barrow’s squad have been promoted to the 1st Team squad for the new season – midfielder Henry Brown and defender Kieron Jones.  

Former TFCY U-18 player Harrison Bickerton has returned to the Club after a couple of seasons away playing for Wythenshawe FC and Cheadle Nomads. 

Other new faces in the squad include:

Kingston Fligg: (Midfielder, 19, Stockport Town)

Campbell Reid: (Forward, 19, former clubs)

Kieron Molloy: (Midfielder, 24, Wythenshawe Town)

Matt Davies: (Forward, 34, Charnock Richards)

 

 

The “Grassroots Football Tour” takes place in a few weeks, in aid of The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, and Trafford FC have signed up to be involved…..

The Tour consists of a 156 mile walk starting and ending at Ossett United in Yorkshire. In a huge loop across the north of England, a core team of 16 walkers will visit 21 other football grounds across three days, June 6th to 8th 2025. Many other walkers will drop in and out along the route, each making their own efforts to raise money for The Darby Rimmer Foundation.

Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby (husband of former Man City & England Lionesses captain Steph Houghton) plus his close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created this charity to increase awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness, and to hopefully help find a cure. The Foundation will also raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support for those diagnosed with the disease.

The Trafford FC to Altrincham leg of the walk will take place on Saturday 7th June 2025. Walkers are expected to arrive at Shawe View between 2pm – 3pm that day, and after a quick refuel they will walk the approximately 8½ miles to Altrincham’s Moss Lane stadium.

Taking part in this leg of the walk will be former Trafford AND Altrincham legends Stuart Coburn and Ged Kielty, along with other members / supporters of both clubs. The bonds between Altrincham FC and Trafford FC have always been strong, and we are looking forward to joining with our very good friends from The Robins to try and raise a decent amount from our leg, to add to the grand total. We’d love to have as many people as possible down to either take part, or just give some vocal support to the walkers.

All money raised by the Grassroots Football Tour will go directly to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. All donations are gratefully received.
