Former Chairman passes.......

It is with great sadness that Trafford FC announce the passing of our former Chairman Tom Walmsley.

Tom first became involved with the Club back in the 1990s as a supporter, and after quickly being consumed by the family atmosphere at Shawe View he joined the committee, eventually becoming Chairman in the early 2000’s. Under Tom’s leadership the club went from strength to strength, most notably winning the North West Counties League title in 2008 and promotion back to the Northern Premier League. Manager at the time Ged Kielty says: “Tom Walmsley had the belief in me to give me the manager’s job and was always so supportive, so I owe him lots. He was a lovely man who I had a lot of time for.” Tom held the position of Chairman until 2010 and remained a director of Trafford FC until 2012.

In his working life, Tom Walmsley was a languages teacher at Lostock High School in Stretford for many years. He was also a prominent member of Urmston Cricket Club both as a player and committee member. On retiring from playing cricket he became a highly respected umpire in the Cheshire County Cricket League.

Everyone at the Club sends their condolences to Tom's family. He will be sorely missed by us all.

Rest in peace Tom x
