Trafford’s woes continued as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against a Motors side inspired by a superb individual performance by Jawad Jebrin.
Defences were on top in a rather scrappy opening with the first chance falling to Trafford left back Damola Sotona when he burst forward and powered in a drive that Jack Atkinson pushed behind.
In the 19th minute the visitors stormed ahead when Trafford carelessly conceded possession on their right, allowing Jordan Deer to make a long diagonal pass that Jebrin collected and smashed past Sam Booth into the bottom corner.
Jack Higginbottom denied Motors a second goal with a brilliant last ditch tackle on Josh Quarless whilst at the other end Rio Clegg’s angled drive was saved by the feet of Atkinson.
Clegg was then bundled off the ball as he attempted to shoot and was desperately unlucky in the 41st minute when he crashed a fierce drive against the angle of bar and upright from 20 yards.
Trafford were on top at the start of the second half with Sotona going close again with a crisp shot that flew inches wide of the left hand post.
Jebrin volleyed wide from 15 yards as he continued to torment the Trafford defence and in the 67th minute home manager Karl Marginson made a triple substitution and introduced Matty Lusakueno, Kanye Nisbett and Hilal Khan to the action.
However, just five minutes later his team were dealt a sucker punch when a long kick downfield by goalkeeper Atkinson was flicked on and Jebrin broke clear to round Sam Booth and side-foot the ball home.
To their credit, Trafford battled to the end with Matty Lusakueno making several breath-taking runs down the left flank, one in particular ending with a pass to Clegg that was fired wide.
Mike Burke saw his left foot volley from 25 yards fly inches wide but the well-drilled Motors defence held firm and consigned Trafford to their fourth successive defeat.
