This Saturday, Trafford make the short journey over the county border to Merseyside to face Prescott Cables. Tom Baker's boys will be hoping to build on their morale boosting cup win in midweek over Ramsbottom United.
Cables themselves have been in indifferent form over the past month or so with only 5 points gained in their last 6 games with a goal difference in that period of -4. They did however pick up a confidence boosting win by despatching Droylsden 4-0 at home last Saturday. Their home form at Volair Park is rather solid with the season’s record of P10 W5 D3 L2, and Trafford will have to be wary of last weekend’s hat trick hero Matty Hamilton.
The reverse fixture at Home Estates Shawe View earlier this season saw Trafford run out 1-0 victors thanks to a Lewis Salmon penalty.
Cables' stadium is a wonderful old-school ground featuring a proper 1930's stand with large bar area within. The place is open from 1.30pm, and we've always found the food and the drinks at Prescot to be excellent. Trafford supporters have had several great days out at in Knowsley in recent seasons, although results on the pitch have not tended to go our way. If you’re driving the address is Hope Street L34 6ED. Parking in the streets near the ground is not easy however. If you travel by train, Prescot station is about 10 minutes walk.
