Trafford cruised into the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup with a 6-0 demolition of North West Counties side AFC Liverpool at the Home Estates Shawe View Stadium on Saturday.
The hosts made a dream start when, after just two minutes, Saj Elhassan released Tom Bentham who outmuscled ‘Pool centre half Luke Stephens and fired past Jack McGovern.
Four minutes later Elhassan made it two when he rose to glance a superb header into the roof of the net following a right wing corner by Rob Worrall.
Trafford were in complete control and Ryan Morton almost made it 3-0 when he volleyed wide from eight yards but the third goal duly arrived in the 17th minute when Tom Bentham struck a great angled drive from the left past McGovern and inside the far post.
The tie was as good as over in the 22nd minute when another scintillating move down the right ended with Morton crossing low to the back post where Elhassan arrived to plant the ball home.
The visitors were visibly demoralised by the brilliance of Trafford’s play and home keeper, and new signing, Conor Robson was a virtual spectator.
But the crowd of just under 500 had to wait until four minutes into the second half before the next goal-scoring opportunity arose, Ryan Morton gliding past three defenders and cracking a shot that was blocked by the legs of McGovern.
Morton made amends in the 57th minute when he made it 5-0, rounding off another incisive move by clipping the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper and the visitors plight was made all the more difficult in the 72nd minute when they were reduced to ten men, Kyle Schora receiving a red card for a reckless lunge at Harry Norris.
Trafford right back Matty Morgan flashed a drive just over the crossbar and Rob Worrall twice went close with long range efforts before Tom Bentham completed the scoring and a superb hat-trick when he sent a looping header into the top corner in the first minute of injury time.
This victory means that Trafford now play host to Runcorn Linnets in the First Preliminary Round of the FA Cup on Saturday 20th August.
However, they begin their league campaign with a visit to Skelmersdale United on Saturday before entertaining Colne at the Home Estates Shawe View Stadium on Tuesday evening, kick off 7-45 p.m.
