Trafford Football Club are pleased to announce plans to replace and upgrade the buildings at the club’s Shawe View ground. The club is inviting feedback from local residents and supporters of the club.
The current buildings at Shawe View are over 40 years old and badly in need of upgrading. The club has worked with architects and designers to develop what it believes is an affordable plan which will improve facilities for supporters attending fixtures at Shawe View as well as offering a space which will be available to the local community on non-match days.
The plans include:
- New clubhouse with a community room, new bar and kitchen and new spectator toilets
- New changing rooms for home and away teams and officials, player treatment room, hospitality area, plus spectator toilets and first aid
- LED floodlights: replacing the current sodium lights with more efficient LEDs will save on running costs and reduce light spillage to local properties
- Improved landscaping and planting inside the ground to enhance the biodiversity on the site
Club Chair John Eadie said,
“The buildings at the ground have not been upgraded in decades. The new development is long overdue and will represent a vast improvement in facilities for match going supporters as well as creating a space which can be used by the local community.”
The club is also expecting work to begin in the next few weeks on a new covered stand at the William Wroe end of the ground. The stand will offer additional shelter to spectators at games and with the winter weather upon us the building of the stand can’t come soon enough. Planning permission for the stand was obtained in November 2023 and the club has been raising the finance required to make the plans a reality. Funding has now been secured from the Football Foundation’s Premier League Stadium Improvement and Trafford Football Club’s Supporters Club. Club Director Pete McGrath thanked supporters for their hard work over a number of years in raising the additional funds to allow the building work to begin.
“On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank the Trafford FC Supporters Club for doing an amazing job in raising the funds needed to get us to this point with the work on the West Stand about to begin.”
