New Signing – Luke Sephton

Trafford FC are delighted to announce a NEW signing – Luke Sephton!

Luke previously played for Ramsbottom United playing 46 times & scoring 16 goals in NWCFL Premier last season.

When asked about Luke’s arrival, manager Tom Baker said:

Luke agreed to come in, he is the younger brother of Scott Sefton so someone that we know well. Luke was a part of a really successful Ramsbottom team last season that got beat in the play-off semi-final so he’s got really good experience at the level. He plays as an attacking midfielder,  & comes to Trafford with a really good goal record, he got well into double figures last year from an attacking midfield position which is really important for us this season, it’s no surprise that we struggled for goals last year. Luke’s got a really good record of scoring goals at that level and is athletically very good which is really important. Really looking forward to working with him

Welcome to Trafford Luke, we’re delighted to have you here!

17Sport and 17Pro Announce Technical Partnership

17Sport and 17Pro are delighted to announce a new technical partnership with Trafford FC ahead of the upcoming season.

The agreement will see Tom Baker’s Trafford side take to the pitch in brand-new bespoke home and away kits, designed exclusively for the club by 17Pro, alongside a full range of technical training, off-field and travel wear for players and staff.

As part of the partnership, supporters will also have access to a new range of official fanwear and merchandise, bringing the Trafford FC identity closer to fans both on matchdays and in the community.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to professionalism, identity and performance, with 17Pro continuing to expand its presence across semi-pro football through high-quality bespoke teamwear and apparel solutions.

Speaking on the partnership, Caron White, Head of Key Accounts for 17Sport said:

We’re incredibly proud to welcome Trafford FC to the 17Pro family. Trafford is a club with strong ambitions, a passionate community and a clear identity, which made this partnership a fantastic fit for us. We’re excited to work closely with Tom and everyone at the club to deliver high performance bespoke kits and apparel that players, staff and supporters can be proud of.

Trafford FC manager Tom Baker added:

The quality and professionalism shown by 17Sport and 17Pro throughout the process has been excellent, we’ve been blown away by the quality of the ranges that we’ll be using next season and we’re looking forward to seeing the players and supporters wearing our new colours this season.

The new bespoke kits and supporter ranges will be revealed ahead of the new campaign and will be available to purchase both online and through the club.

Reserve Team Manager

Trafford FC are recruiting a Reserve Team Manager for the 2026-27 season and beyond.

The team plays in the Cheshire League, finishing 10th in League 2 last season. Home games are played at our Away Day Care Shawe View Stadium, mostly on Saturday afternoons with some midweeks.

During the 2025-26 season, twelve players who’d progressed via our reserves squad represented the first team – making a combined total of almost 150 appearances between them.

Our reserve team is a key part of the club’s player development pathway, and the Reserves Manager will liaise closely with the First Team Manager to help identify and integrate players who it is felt can make the next step in semi-professional football.

Please send an application letter together with CV via the form below.

Simon Heaton Joins Trafford

Trafford FC are pleased to confirm that Simon Heaton has joined the first-team management staff for the 2026/27 season.

After Tom & Keil committed their futures to the club and with Lee Rick moving on, it was important a third man was brought in to help Trafford push for promotion out of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

Simon on joining the club:

I am delighted to join Trafford as part of the 1st team management I met up with Tom and within minutes I wanted to work with him the club want to bounce back and hopefully I can help with that. we have started working straight away and recruitment has been positive already.  I’m Looking forward to the season ahead working with Tom , Keil and the Trafford staff and supporters.

Manager Tom Baker added:

After the departure of Lee Rick in the  summer to West Didsbury & Chorlton, it was really important that I looked to recruit a third man to work alongside me and Keil, I always like working as a three management team. I think it’s really important to have a couple of opinions throughout the season in regards to various things, I think the important thing for me was that we got the right man with the right attributes, I think between the three there’s many boxes that you need to tick as a management team, from coaching, recruitment, knowledge of the level etc.

I felt it was really important going to a new level as in the north-west counties is a level that myself and both Keil don’t  have a great level of experience with regards to the other teams and in regards to players at that level I felt the key factor to who we brought in was going be someone who’s been at that level before I think Simon ticks that box.

He spent 2 to 3 seasons at Abbey Hey working under a strict budget and kept them in the division. He spent a few years before that at New Mills again in the same division working as a three man team with Mike Norton and David Birch, he knows the level really well. He knows the other teams, knows players at the level.he’s a really good guy. He’s really hungry to be successful and be a part of something this season so I once I sat down and met with him it was quite clear that he was the right guy to bring in to work  alongside me and Keil and looking forward to the new season.

Welcome to Trafford Simon!

Trafford FC Retained List 2026/27

Trafford FC can confirm the following players have been retained ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Manager Tom Baker on the squad retained players

Really happy to get most of last seasons squad to commit to be a part of the rebuild and what we want to do moving forward next season. As every football club knows you’re always going lose a few players and I’m pleased to say that there’s only a couple of players that have decided to move on and they’ve done that for their own reasons and that’s always to be expected. After the loan lads left we’ve managed to get commitment from quite a few from last year’s squad, including club captain Harry Norris.

Lots of positives moving forward with a couple more of players from last season in conversation and we will say more on those in due course.

The club is pleased to confirm that the following players remain part of the first-team squad:

Retained players

  • Harry Norris
  • Jack Higginbottom
  • Sean Higgins
  • Brad Byrne
  • Scott Sephton
  • Mackena Bradshaw
  • Kyle Worsley
  • Bile Ahmed
  • George Unsworth
  • Prosper Imar

Further squad updates will be announced in due course as preparations continue for the new campaign.

Tom also commented on the future of the squad

Constant conversations going on with new players as we are looking to recruit and bring in new signings for next season, it’s always a difficult time because players are keeping their options open and speaking to various clubs and it’s still technically quite early doors butI have had some really good and positive conversations.

I have commitment from a few players already so in we will announce those in due course. I am looking forward to announcing some new arrivals In in the coming weeks

Everyone at Trafford FC would like to thank supporters for their continued backing and looking forward to the 2026/27 season.

Trafford FC Begin New Era In The NWCFL Premier Division

A New Chapter For Trafford FC

After a difficult 2025/26 campaign which ended in relegation from the Northern Premier League West Division, Trafford FC begin a new era back in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

For supporters of Trafford, the drop to Step 5 is disappointing, but it also presents an opportunity. Trafford return to a league rich in local rivalries, strong travelling support, historic non-league grounds and clubs with genuine ambition. The 2026/27 season promises packed terraces, derby atmospheres and plenty of competitive football as the club looks to regroup and challenge near the top end of the table once again.

Trafford’s home, the Away Day Care Shawe View Stadium in Urmston, will once again host some of the best-supported clubs in the North West non-league scene. The league features former Football League names, ambitious community clubs, long-standing rivals and several teams Trafford know extremely well from previous NWCFL and Northern Premier League battles.

Baker and O’Brien to lead Trafford into 2026/27 season

Trafford FC are pleased to confirm that first-team manager Tom Baker and assistant manager Keil O’Brien will remain in charge for the 2026/27 season.

The duo have committed their futures to the club as preparations begin for the upcoming campaign in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division, following relegation from the Northern Premier League West Division.

The decision ensures continuity within the first-team setup, with the club placing its full support behind Baker and O’Brien as they begin the process of rebuilding and preparing for the new season.

Manager Tom Baker said:

I am really happy to commit to the club for next season,  I sat down and had a good conversation with the Chairman regards to how we move forward and what we needed to do to move forward. I think it’s really important that we reset and we rebuild and we look to go again.

On rejoining the club:

I feel like I came in on the 1st of November with the aim to try and keep the club in in the Northern Premier League West, which didn’t quite happen, I feel like we we’ve done a hell of a lot of good work and I feel like to walk away from that now would’ve been wrong. I feel like the club shown faith in me on in November bringing me in and trusting me with the role of trying to keep  the club in the division. I feel like it’s only fair that I repay that trust in regards to trying to get the club back up next season.

On next season:

It’s going to be really tough, it’s a really competitive league there’s going to be a lot of other teams & clubs that are going to really fancy their chances in regards to promotion but I believe we can be really competitive, I believe that we can carry on the good work that we’ve already done. The first part that trying to keep the core of the squad we’ve got and then looking to build and bringing some new faces in the summer to enhance what we already have, again that’s not going be easy it’s a difficult time in the summer, a lot of players await other options a lot of clubs are trying to sign new players, but I’m confident that Trafford in the North West Counties is still or will be an attractive proposition for for a lot of players and here’s to hopefully a successful 26/27 season.

Speaking on the announcement, Paul Delaney, Club Secretary said:

We are delighted that Tom and Keil have committed to leading the team into the 2026/27 season. They have shown dedication and professionalism throughout a challenging campaign, and we believe they are the right people to continue taking the club forward.

Preparations for pre-season are now underway, with further updates on squad news and fixtures to follow in due course.

End of Season Awards 25/26

After our last home game we had our end of season awards.

It’s been a tough season on & of the pitch but the club is alive and we must recognise our collective and individual achievements. After the Bootle (last home) game on Saturday we held our end-of-season presentations. Here’s Players AND Supporters #PotY Harry Norris (c)🧱

Manager Tom Baker and his assistant/coach Keil O’Brien and Lee Rick chose Ollie Southern as their Player of the Year.

For our reserves team, Manager paul Barrow presents Player’s PotY to Dec McGloin, and Management PotY to Kian Wallace.

Without our Volunteers, of whom there are dozens, we would not exist. Here are just some of our Tea/Bar & hospitality staff who work so hard serving supporters and staff alike throughout the season…….. 🤍

After a vote amongst his fellow staff, our “Volunteer of the Year” is ANDY “SNIFFER” McGRATH – the second time he’s won this award in 4 seasons!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

A special award was presented to Mark “Brooko” Brookes of our Supporters Club, who has raised so much money over the last 4 or 5 years – money which has helped pay for the new Graham Foxall stand at the Pennybridge Lane End of our stadium🤍👏👏👏👏👏

Speaking of Supporters, Vinny and Hannah have been chosen as Supporters of the Season! Dad & daughter attend pretty much every game home & away, and their passion for the team is unrivalled!! 🤍👏👏👏👏👏👏

Last but never least, our Groundsman Adrian Halliwell leaves us this summer. Adrian has worked hard on our pitch for 13 years, first under Foxxy then as Head Groundsman himself. Thank you Adrian for your commitment & dedication to the Club across all those years!! 🤍👏👏👏👏👏👏

TRAFFORD FC MINI-FOOTBALL FESTIVAL!

Reluctantly and with a lot of consideration, our Football Festival has been cancelled.

Due to wear and tear to the pitch after the season end, the pitch won’t be available as the groundwork is starting earlier than planned as remedial fixes are needed.

The location of the 6v6 pitches will not be safe.

We will be refunding teams that have paid in the near future once everything is sorted. An email will be sent to clubs registered.

Thank you and apologies for any inconvenience.
