JUST GIVING PAGE………

Weʼre raising £5,000 to save the club so it will still be here next season as like many non-league clubs, Trafford FC is struggling to survive.

Yes it really is that serious. The Coronavirus has caused massive issues for Non-league and community football clubs. Income has dropped to zero yet Bills must still be paid. The Government’s business loan schemes are simply not designed for non-league football clubs, and handouts from the FA don’t filter down as far as the Northern Premier League. Trafford FC was formed in 1990 and has a proud 30-year history, but 2020 could easily be the year of its demise…

The Club and its Supporters Organisation have been working together since the season was abandoned on 26 th March to raise money during these dark times. We’ve run some “Virtual Match Days” that have raised about £1,000 but it’s vital that we raise more. We want to reach out to our local community, businesses and the greater football family for help and assistance. Anything you can spare will all go into the pot to keep our wonderful, local, friendly, family club going. Thank you!

Narrow home defeat

Trafford took the lead immediately after half time in tonight’s NPL fixture at Shawe View versus Stalybridge Celtic, but a 5 minute spell a short time later, where the visitors scored twice, ultimately undid Trafford’s hard work and saw them slip to a 2-1 defeat. As always, Dave Law’s match report will be out some time tonight, so click back in to read the full story later/in the morning……

TRAFFORD YOUTH U13’s IN CONTINENTAL ACTION!

It gives us GREAT pleasure to let the Trafford Family know that our TFCY Under 13s have been playing in the Porto International Tournament this Easter weekend and finished an AMAZING THIRD PLACE in a competition made up of some quality teams from all around the world!
Playing at the Estadio Universatario de Porto, the young Trafford stars kicked off the group stage by beating Os Sandinenses 4-0. They followed this up with a 2-1 victory over none other than FC Porto’s U13s!
The Super Young Whites’ journey continued with a 3-1 victory over SC Sao Joao De Vere, then the final group game was a 1-4 defeat to Varzim SC. The results were enough to see our heroes top the group and qualify for the Semi-Final!
Here, we were sadly defeated by Boavista U13’s, but the Bronze Medal Play-off resulted in a 2-0 win over Varzim SC securing 3rd place in what was a very strong tournament.

NEWS UPDATE :

TRAFFORD FOOTBALL CLUB: UPDATE ON THE MANAGERIAL POSITION

For this Saturday’s game away at City of Liverpool FC, senior player Tom Bentham, assisted by Captain Astley Mulholland, will take charge of the team. In tandem with this, the board of directors are currently assessing the club’s options in terms of appointing a new permanent manager. This is a hugely important decision for the club – the new manager will be just the fifth incumbent in the last fifteen years. The directors wish to take their time evaluating all options available, to ensure they make the correct decision for the future of the club. We will provide a further update early next week.

TRAFFORD 2 – 2 CLITHEROE

TRAFFORD’S first home league game of the season ended in a 2-2 draw versus Clitheroe this evening, the visitors scoring an equaliser in in jury time added to injury time! Tom Bentham’s 83rd minute goal looked to have won it for Trafford, but it wasn’t to be….. Dave law’s match report will be published soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that….

CHARITY MATCH AT SHAWE VIEW TODAY…..

Urmston Meds Eagles are hosting a charity football match on Sunday 31st July 2022 at Trafford Football Club to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, a cause close to our hearts and so many associated to the team.
Two of our team have sadly both lost their dads due to undiagnosed heart conditions. Dom Davidson lost his dad, Don Davidson on 6th November 2014 and Tom Coy lost his dad, Steve Coy on 16th January 2020. What did they both have in common? Aside from being great men, devoted to their families, at different times, they both coached Urmston Meadowside Eagles and won the Timperley & District Junior Football League Division 1 Title.
Steve was the Urmston Meadowside Eagles manager from 2001-2009. Don then took over the reins from 2009-2014. After Steve’s passing in January 2020, the Urmston Meadowside Eagles team decided to reunite to play in their honour, with the addition of a few new faces!
In addition to the expected attendance, we would love to get as many people down as possible on Sunday 31st July to celebrate the lives of two great men and raise as much money as possible for a very worthwhile cause. Please feel free to share the event amongst as many family and friends and we look forward to seeing you there!

Couple of quick shout outs….
Trafford FC Chairman – John Eadie
A huge thank you to you for kindly agreeing to let us use the venue for the day. I can’t thank you enough for such a meaningful gesture to a team with roots to the local area. Hopefully we can repay you with a fantastic attendance and a great game of football.
Kit Sponsorship – John R Tollitt’s Funeral Service & Lee Johnstone
The assistance of now a close friend providing funding to a local team, in addition to the kindness you showed to me, Emma and my family whilst my dad was in your care.
And lastly, but most importantly….
Urmston Meds Eagles
Without the commitment and dedication you lads have all shown over the last 2 years, none of this would even be possible. As manager, I’m beyond proud of you all. You’re a huge credit to both Steve and Don!

The British Heart Foundation funds around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They’re all connected. Your support powers our life saving research. You are our heroes. The money you raise, the items you donate and the time you volunteer helps protect the people you love. Your children, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents and closest friends.
The aim: Our vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. A world without heartbreak!

TOMORROW’S GAME IS OFF!

Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, tomorrow’s game against Atherton Collieries has fallen foul of the weather and is off. A new date for the rearranged fixture will be announced soon.
Our next fixture is at home on Saturday 18th January v. Witton Albion.
Take care people!

TRAFFORD FC returned to the summit of the Pitching-In NPL West Division today (Saturday 14th September) with another battling, backs-to-the-wall performance away at Runcorn Linnets.
The Shawe View men had goalkeeper Sam Booth sent off in the 62nd minute for a foul just outside the box on the last man, as the Linnets’ striker piled forward looking for what would have been an equaliser at the time. Winger Matty Morgan went in goal and kept a clean sheet for the rest of the game, and as if that wasn’t good enough, young striker Kanye Nisbett came off the bench to coolly slot home a one-on-one with the Runcorn ‘keeper to make sure of the three points.
The full match report will be published overnight, so until then bask in the knowledge that Karl Marginson’s team are top of the league after 6 games!

TOM WALMSLEY R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that Trafford FC announce the passing of our former Chairman Tom Walmsley.

Tom first became involved with the Club back in the 1990s as a supporter, and after quickly being consumed by the family atmosphere at Shawe View he joined the committee, eventually becoming Chairman in the early 2000’s. Under Tom’s leadership the club went from strength to strength, most notably winning the North West Counties League title in 2008 and promotion back to the Northern Premier League. Manager at the time Ged Kielty says: “Tom Walmsley had the belief in me to give me the manager’s job and was always so supportive, so I owe him lots. He was a lovely man who I had a lot of time for.” Tom held the position of Chairman until 2010 and remained a director of Trafford FC until 2012.

In his working life, Tom Walmsley was a languages teacher at Lostock High School in Stretford for many years. He was also a prominent member of Urmston Cricket Club both as a player and committee member. On retiring from playing cricket he became a highly respected umpire in the Cheshire County Cricket League.

Everyone at the Club sends their condolences to Tom’s family. He will be sorely missed by us all.

Rest in peace Tom x
