Premier Cup Exit

A YOUTHFUL Trafford side slipped to a 1-2 defeat to Chadderton in their Manchester FA Premier Cup tie this evening.
Behind after just 4 minutes, the Trafford XI showing 9 changes from Saturday’s starting line up with a number of Reserve players involved gaining experience, got into their rhythm and Jack Donohue equalised before half time.
Despite a good performance from the youngsters, Chadderton took the win with a goal in the 73rd minute at a freezing Shawe View in front of 123 frozen spectators.

Trafford Open The Season With 3-0 Win

Trafford kick off the new NPL season in style with a 3-0 win at Congleton; Rio Clegg, Mike Burke, and Eoin Hogan the goalscorers. Manager Karl Marginson had the following to say about the performance of his players:

“An all round really good performance with a fantastic work ethic that enabled our players to overcome a difficult test and play some great football to boot. To a man they were magnificent. It’s very early days and the tests will keep coming thick and fast, but we’ll accept any challenge that’s in front of us and give it our best.”

Dave Law’s match report will follow very soon…….

PLAYER OF THE MONTH!

JAMES NEILD was voted October’s Trafford FC “Player of the Month” by members of the Supporters Club. Here he is before Saturday’s game versus 1874 Northwich being presented with his prize of four bottles of Lucozade Sport by SC members Liam Gallagher and Joshua Anthony. Well done James!!!

Avro vs. Trafford……

Today’s game at Avro was abandoned due to poor weather conditions – in the second half, the thickening fog made it impossible to see the full playing area, so the referee had no choice but to abandon the game. You may also be aware that there was a medical emergency in the second half which delayed the game for a period of time – this incident involved our very own Graham Foxall who was taken ill and has this evening gone to hospital. Obviously we send our very best wishes to Graham and his family. Everybody at Trafford FC hopes and prays that “Foxy” makes a speedy and full recovery.

50 YEARS SERVICE AWARD

Trafford FC President David Brown has been presented with a 50 Years’ Service Award by the Football Association for his amazing contribution to non-league football.
David began his journey in grassroots football back in the early 1970s with Old Urmstonians in the Lancashire and Cheshire League both as a player and member of the committee.
He then moved to Flixton Football Club in 1985 before becoming a founder member of Trafford Football Club, formerly known as North Trafford, in 1990.
Initially, David was Vice-Chairman and Football Secretary at the Urmston based club but he then became Chairman and was a driving force in the club’s development of their Shawe View ground and their subsequent meteoric rise up the non-league pyramid.
In 2000 David moved house to the North Lancashire area and relinquished his Chairman’s position but still made the journey down to Urmston several times each week.
And for his magnificent contribution towards the development of the club he was made President.
The photograph above shows David receiving his 50 Year Service Award from John McLellan-Grant, Chairman of the Manchester Football Association.

TRAFFORD VETERANS

Trafford FC is proud to be working with Trafford Veterans CIC, and we were really pleased to see a recent article about the group, and our links with them, on the website “Terraces and Troops”. Below is a link to the article so you can read it for yourself.

Claire and Chris, the two ex-service personnel who founded Trafford Veterans in 2015, can often be seen at Trafford home games. We as a club are massively proud to have the flags of the three armed forces hanging up at our stadium. Long may this continue!
